I agree with both you and the anon about Demi's Vanity Fair shoot. It was so beautiful. One thing I like about it is that the photos themselves show a journey of self-acceptance. From posing with a t-shirt on, to going completely nude but laying low in the tub and cupping her breasts, to rising up and showing her back, to rising up further and exposing her bare ass, to getting out and posing around the hotel room. It seemed like she grew bolder and more confident as the shoot went on.
I never thought about it this way before but yeah, maybe that’s what happened, who knows? 😊 Either way, it was a really beautiful photo shoot and it still makes me super pleased for Demi when I see photos from it.
NAC: I agree with you that the Vanity Fair shoot was beautiful. One thing I always think about with that shoot is what it must have been like for the photographer. To get the chance to photograph her in such an intimate way…It must have been a special experience for him.
I’ve never really thought about it from that perspective, to be honest. But I guess professionals have to be professional no matter what, so who knows? It’d be pretty amazing to work with someone in that sense, to see how empowered they felt and to help them embrace it though-that seems like it would be a pretty special experience.
Curious what you thought of Demi's nude photo shoot for Vanity Fair from a few years ago and whether you think it represented a significant moment for her and her career.
YES! It’s still one of my favourite shoots that she did. I think it was beautiful both aesthetically and just because she really took charge of her own body and confidence and I love seeing women feeling empowered so I just loved it!
ddlovato: I ♥ my new vintage Selena shirt… thanks @luckydevilvintage
